Daylight saving fix for windows users in Pakistan
Pakistan standard time has been advanced by 1 hour to save energy (details). Many of servers/desktops running windows are affected by this as windows has no daylight saving option for this time zone. Here are some simple steps to enable daylight saving for Pakistan.
- Download Timezone edit utility from Microsoft’s website using the following link.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/8/a/58a208b7-7dc7-4bc7-8357-28e29cdac52f/tzedit.exe - Extract the files from self extracting zip and run the extracted tzedit.exe

- Select (GMT+05:00) Islamabad, Karachi, Tashkent and press the Edit button on right side
- On edit zone screen enter the settings as given in this screen shot.

Update: Change the last day to last Friday of October.
Press the OK button and close Windows Time Zone Editor. - Now open the Windows Date and time properties, click on Time Zone tab and you will see that “Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes” checkbox is now enabled for Islamabad, Karachi, Tashkent zone. Check this if it is unchecked.

Now you can sync your clock with any NTP server
