UPDATE: Support for this script is officially closed. You can now use online tool available at http://www.slidzy.com/ to download your favorite slides in Power point(PPT), Acrobat (PDF) and SWF with a much requested offline flash player for SWF slides.
Today I was looking at Mohtashim’s presentation on Human Centric Design presented at P@SHA Career Expo. I liked the presentation so I decided to download it for offline reading. But there was a download restriction :S The slides were not available for download. There are many nice presentations available on slideshare which you cannot download
I wrote a small script for Greasemonkey which helps you in downloading the slides. You can find the script here:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30646
It will replace “Download not available” text with a download link
The download link will display links to individual slides, now you can download them all.
Update [Nov 05, 2008]: A small change in class name of “Download not available” link caused problems in the script. It is working fine now.
Update [Nov 22, 2008]: A minor change in a class name again. Script is updated. Enjoy downloading slides
Update [Jan 11, 2009]: Script is working again
Update [Jan 26, 2009]: Class names were changed again :S and the script is working again
hi,… i have try slideshare. but it still show “download not available”. is that any update?
thx.
@mico
There was little change in slideshare UI. I have updated the script. Its working fine now.
Hi Irfan, i get an error when selecting the js file. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, just started using greasemonkey. Would appreciate it when you could help me out ! Thx
Could not launch editor.
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520003 (NS_ERROR_FILE_EXECUTION_FAILED) [nsIProcess.run]” nsresult: “0×80520003 (NS_ERROR_FILE_EXECUTION_FAILED)” location: “JS frame :: chrome://greasemonkey/content/utils.js :: launchApplicationWithDoc :: line 188″ data: no]
try clicking the “Install this script” button given at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30646
I found that for some reason Greasemonkey was not really active altough it stated so ..so I went in Firefox into about:config and – in opened search bar, typed “grease”. In a second, Firefox will
filter the config options, and you’ll see 2 or 3 GM-related options.
There I changed the enabled-value from false to true, now the install buttons for scripts works fine ( I don’t get the download .js file anymore) and your script work perfectly ! Thx a lot for that !!!
Hello! Does the script still work for slideshare.net? I tried it but it does not work for me.
Lena, there were changes in Slideshare DOM. They have made it easier for us to find the doc variable
Please update you copy of script, it is working fine now.
Tried the script today on this page and did not work.
Firefox is 3.03. Script is the one from nov 3rd.
But great work !
All the best.
Slideshare changed the download not available class name again.
Script is updated
I think they’ve changed things again, it’s not working and I get a notice asking me to tell you it’s not working. I just downloaded the script so I’m assuming I have the most recent one.
Thanks.
It was a minor change. Fixed Now
Thanks
Many Thanks, that worked well!

its broken again?
There was a minor change again and I have updated it again
Hi there!

Script did not work. I guess they have changed something again.
Lena
Fixed once again
0. Download bitcommet
1. Clear Firefox Cache
2. Open SS Slideshow
3. in Firefox address bar put about:cache and list disk cache
4. ctrl+f and find the right XML link about your presentation
5. convert and save XML links to valid HTML using notepad and Find&Replace
6. open this file with IE, right click on any link and choose download all with bitcommet.
I am sorry about short description, but anyway this is working 100% all the time!
this plugin does exactly same thing, making it easy

how to merge all swf files downloaded by “downloadthemall”? or a good player? Sorry for the green question.
what is a ssd file? i got a ssd file after downloading what can i do with that and how can I open it with linux
yeah, I second that last question: what would be the best way to get these files merged into something like a pdf format? Preferrably on Mac
will keep you posted when I found a suitable tool
Hi, the script works, it’s fantastic; the only problem i have is opening the kind of file “*.ssd”.
Somebody knows how open it?
Martin,
